Call for Demonstrations, Studio Reports and Workshops

The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC2014) jointly with the Sound and Music Computing (SMC2014) Conference invite submission of Studio Reports, Demonstrations and Workshops involving aesthetic, compositional, educational, musicological, scientific, and technological aspects of sound and music computing as well as digital audio. The Conference will be held in Athens, Greece, from 14 to 20 September 2014.

 

Submission Types

In this page the ICMC|SMC|2014 Conference accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Demonstrations
  • Studio reports
  • Workshops

 

Details

  • Demonstrations are:
    • extensive amplification of papers presented at the ICMC or
    • stand-alone demonstrations of software or hardware.

 

  • Studio reports are reports on computer music facilities and studio activities.

 

  • Workshops: We invite proposals workshops or tutorials on computer music subjects that will be held during the conference. The workshop events can have a duration 1-4 hours and they will be held during the conference. They have to focus on the development of extended computer music techniques and knowledge through demonstrations, hands-on learning, and tutorials with a special emphasis on physical computing and building things. The topics of these events can range from demonstration of software techniques, physical modelling, design of hardware, specialist techniques, circuit bending, hardware hacking, software programming, physical computing, real-time sound synthesis/analysis, DSP, development of new musical instruments. Workshops will be open to enrolment from the general public, creating learning experiences between conference participants and visitors to the ICMC community. The tutors of the selected workshops will benefit with a free registration on ICMC-SMC conference as well as free invitation to the conference banquet.

 

Submission guidlines

For all of above kind of submissions a detailed description of up to 4 pages should be submitted in PDF format, through the specific Conference Management System. (There is no need to remove author information for blind review).

  Submissions open: 10 January 2014
· Deadline for  submissions: 31 May 2014
· Acceptance/selection notification: 20 June 2014
· Early registration: 30 June 2014
· Final deadlines for full submission (camera ready): 15 July 2014
· Registration deadline for submitters: 15 July 2014

 

Selection and notification

All submissions will be subject to review by the organising commitee. After the notification of acceptance, the submitters will be contacted for the practical details. In order to include the selected submissions (for Studio reports and Demosnstrations) to the conference a full registration of the submitter is required by 30 June 2014.
